BLOGS
AED 6320 Art Therapy: Introduction and Ethics
For this course you will be expected to establish and maintain a personal blog to record your experiences at your service-learning site as well as related readings and class discussions. You may make your blog open to the public, or you may choose to make your blog available only to students registered in this class. Though you may use any host site that you like for this blog, I recommend Blogger for those who are new to blogging.
To create a blog on Blogger:
1. You can quickly create a free blog on this popular site by logging on to the Internet and going to the Blogger website: http://blogger.com
2. Follow the easy on-line instructions to set up your own personally styled blog in just a few minutes.
3. If you choose, you may further customize your blog (i.e. restrict access, alter the blog’s format, etc. by clicking on the Customize button on the menu bar at the top of your blog and exploring the various drop down menus. Blogger offers on-line help and tutorials if you decide you want to explore these options.
Once you have created your blog:
Please email Holly Feen (hfeen@wayne.edu) with the name of your blog and its URL address. For example, Holly’s blog for this course is
Name of Holly’s blog: Intro to Art Therapy (AED6320)
URL: http://arttherapyintro-aed6320.blogspot.com/Holly will assemble a list of all the class blogs and distribute the list to class members. In addition links to all the class members’ blogs will be incorporated on Holly’s blog making it easy for ou to move from Holly’s blog to the blogs of other class members.
Additional thoughts and cautions:
Enjoy your blog-Writing can be a rewarding tool for recording and reflecting on experiences and ideas. Writing for a blog offers a new and potentially stimulating interactive dimension through which others can see and respond to your ideas-and likewise, you can see and respond to theirs. Enjoy exploring these possibilities in this class.
Respect for privacy- use discretion in protecting the privacy of individuals with whom you are working-i.e. it is fine to publicly praise and acknowledge the accomplishments of individuals and organizations, but do not use actual names or identifying information in discussing problem situations. Do not post photos of people from your service-learning sites.
